About RAPA Scrapple

RAPA Scrapple has made its Delaware breakfast scrapple at its plant in Bridgeville, Delaware since brothers Ralph and Paul Adams founded the company there in 1926.

Heritage & History

In 1926 brothers Ralph and Paul Adams opened a small scrapple plant in Bridgeville, a Sussex County town in southern Delaware, and named it RAPA by joining their first names. Scrapple, a pan-fried loaf of pork, cornmeal and spices, was already a Mid-Atlantic breakfast staple, and the Adams recipe made RAPA one of the region's best-known producers. The company stayed with the family for decades before Jones Dairy Farm, the family-owned Wisconsin sausage maker, bought it in 1981. Production stayed in Bridgeville. In February 2026 Delaware's governor proclaimed a RAPA Scrapple Centennial Month to mark the brand's hundredth year.

Made in Bridgeville, Delaware

RAPA's USDA-inspected plant stands on South Railroad Avenue in Bridgeville, and the company states on its own site that the plant "is still located in Bridgeville, Delaware where the company was founded." The original recipe is still made there alongside newer varieties such as bacon-flavored and hot-and-spicy scrapple. Although the brand has been owned by Wisconsin-based Jones Dairy Farm for more than four decades, it never moved production out of town, and Bridgeville has built part of its civic identity around the plant, hosting the annual Apple-Scrapple Festival each autumn.
