About BobaVida
BobaVida brought popping boba — a category long supplied from overseas — to a 50,000-square-foot plant in Mount Vernon, Missouri, where Boh Bah Inc. makes its fruit-flavored popping pearls.
Heritage & History
BobaVida began in 2023 when founder Scott Van Rixel, watching his daughter and her friends go through popping boba by the case, noticed that almost all of it was imported and set out to make a better version at home. He built Boh Bah Inc. around that idea, bringing together a team with long experience in food production, flavor development and manufacturing.
Demand quickly outgrew the company's first production space. Rather than lean on imported supply the way much of the category does, Boh Bah invested in capacity in the United States, culminating in a much larger plant that opened in early 2026.
Made in Mount Vernon, Missouri
In January 2026 Boh Bah Inc. opened a 50,000-square-foot, FDA-registered production facility in Mount Vernon, Missouri — more than five times the size of its previous plant. The expansion was built to keep BobaVida's popping boba produced on U.S. soil, sidestepping the tariffs and shipping delays that affect import-dependent competitors.
The company says it is proud to be made in the USA, and the Mount Vernon plant is now one of the larger popping-pearl operations anywhere — a small but telling example of a food category being brought back home.
