Heritage & History
Simple Green was founded in 1975 by Bruce FaBrizio in Huntington Beach, California, at a moment when most industrial cleaners were aggressive chemical cocktails with little consideration for human health or environmental impact. FaBrizio's insight was that a cleaner could be both genuinely effective and meaningfully safer — biodegradable, non-toxic, and non-flammable without sacrificing the degreasing performance that commercial and industrial users required.
The original all-purpose cleaner, in its distinctive green concentrate bottle, became a staple across automotive shops, military bases, food service operations, and home kitchens. Simple Green's acceptance as a military-approved cleaner and its listing on government-approved cleaning product schedules validated the brand's performance claims in the most demanding institutional contexts. Over the following decades, the line expanded to include industrial-strength formulas, marine cleaners, aircraft cleaners, and specialty products while maintaining the foundational non-toxic formulation.
Made in Huntington Beach, California
Simple Green products are manufactured in Huntington Beach, California, where the company was founded and has operated for 50 years. Production at the California facility covers the full range of consumer and industrial formulas, with quality control processes that maintain the biodegradability and non-toxic certifications the brand built its reputation on.
The concentrate formulation that defines Simple Green's consumer line reflects both a performance choice and a practical one — concentrated cleaners reduce packaging waste and shipping weight while giving users control over dilution ratios based on cleaning task severity. That approach aligns naturally with the brand's environmental positioning and has helped it maintain relevance as both industrial and consumer buyers have grown more attuned to the ecological footprint of the products they use.
