About Saunders Manufacturing
Saunders Manufacturing has been producing aluminum clipboards and office products in Sangerville, Maine since 1860, making it one of the oldest continuously operating manufacturers in New England.
Heritage & History
Saunders Manufacturing Company was founded in 1860 in Sangerville, Maine — a small town in Piscataquis County that has been home to American manufacturing for over 160 years. The company began producing hardwood products before evolving into the aluminum clipboard and office products manufacturer it is today. Over more than a century and a half, Saunders has remained committed to Maine manufacturing when most competitors moved production overseas.
The company is particularly known for its use of recycled aluminum in its clipboard and padfolio lines, a commitment to sustainability that predates modern corporate environmental awareness. Saunders sources recycled aluminum and processes it at its Maine facility, producing products that are both American-made and environmentally responsible.
Maine Manufacturing
Sangerville, Maine is a small community of under 1,500 residents, and Saunders Manufacturing is one of its most significant employers. The company's presence in the town represents the kind of long-term manufacturing commitment that has become rare in rural America.
Saunders clipboards are recognizable by their precision-formed aluminum construction, low-profile spring clips, and smooth writing surfaces. The company produces a full range of products from basic letter-size clipboards to storage clipboards and padfolios — all manufactured at the Maine facility using the same hands-on craftsmanship that has defined the brand since the 19th century.
