About Pilot Pen
Pilot Corporation of America assembles its G2 gel pens in Jacksonville, Florida — the G2 is America's best-selling gel pen, a refillable retractable design that has defined smooth-writing performance in the gel ink category since its introduction.
America's Best-Selling Gel Pen
The Pilot G2 has been America's best-selling gel pen for years, a position it has earned through consistent performance rather than marketing dominance. The retractable design, the refillable barrel, the comfortable rubber grip, and the smooth-flowing gel ink that writes consistently from the first mark to the last are features that buyers return to once they experience them.
Pilot Corporation of America, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, assembles G2 pens at its Jacksonville facility. The company has maintained a significant domestic manufacturing and assembly presence since establishing its US operations, and the G2's assembly in Florida is an explicit part of the brand's domestic positioning.
The Gel Ink Advantage
Gel ink provides a specific writing experience that distinguishes it from ballpoint and rollerball alternatives. Gel ink is thicker than rollerball ink but flows more consistently than ballpoint — the result is a pen that writes smoothly without the skipping that affects ballpoints on certain surfaces, while providing better line definition than rollerballs that can feather on absorbent paper.
The G2's ink flows at a rate calibrated to write consistently across a wide range of paper types and writing pressures. The fine point (0.7mm) version provides precision suitable for small writing spaces without sacrificing the smoothness that makes gel ink preferable to ballpoint. The extra-fine (0.5mm) version extends the precision advantage for those who write small or work in tight spaces.
