Rescuing the tooling
Atlantis was founded in 2009 by Peter Vetri and Rick DelFavero, who had previously run Megahobby.com. Rather than commission new molds overseas, they acquired vintage American tooling from Revell, Monogram, Aurora and Renwal and brought it to Long Island. Many kits sold today are pressed from the same steel that produced them decades ago, which is why Atlantis catalogue entries often carry original Aurora box art.
Everything under one roof
All injection molding happens in-house at the Deer Park facility, where the tooling and archive material are stored together. The company states that kit parts, packaging, decal sheets, instructions and chroming are all produced in the United States — an unusually complete domestic supply chain for a hobby category that moved almost entirely to Asia.
