Seattle-Made Puzzles with Original American Artwork
Lantern Press produces jigsaw puzzles and fine art prints from their Seattle, Washington headquarters, where a team of in-house illustrators hand-draws every image using traditional and digital tools. The company's explicit position is no AI-generated art — every Lantern Press image is created by a human illustrator who researches the subject, develops a visual style, and renders the final artwork by hand before it is reproduced on puzzle board.
The Seattle manufacturing uses thick recycled puzzle board with precision-cut pieces and non-toxic inks that produce vibrant, long-lasting color. Every puzzle includes a full-color reference poster — a practical inclusion that most puzzle buyers use extensively while assembling.
Subject Matter: America's Landscape and Culture
Lantern Press's catalog is built around American landscape, culture, and travel subject matter — national parks, Route 66, coastal scenes, wildlife collages, and city illustrations. The subject focus creates a consistent brand identity for buyers who want a domestically produced puzzle depicting an American place.
The Route 66 and state-specific illustrations are particularly popular because they serve as destination mementos — a puzzle of a specific lighthouse, coastline, or landmark is a functional souvenir that takes time and engagement to assemble. The 1000-piece format is the standard for adult puzzle buyers seeking a project that takes several hours to complete.
Materials and Environmental Commitment
The recycled puzzle board Lantern Press uses is a meaningful specification compared to the thin cardboard that many imported puzzles use. Thicker board produces pieces that interlock more positively, don't flex as much during handling, and hold assembled sections together more reliably. The non-toxic ink specification makes the puzzles appropriate for households with young children who handle puzzle pieces extensively.
For buyers choosing between Lantern Press and other puzzle brands: the combination of original American artwork, USA manufacturing from recycled materials, and 1000-piece precision construction at a competitive price point makes Lantern Press a strong choice for the adult puzzle buyer who cares about both quality and provenance.
