Heritage & History
Caru Pet Food Company was founded by Adrian and Pamela Pettyan, medical professionals who created a homemade diet for their dog Karu after he suffered from chronic ear infections. Working with an animal nutritionist, they developed a complete line of meals and treats meant to look, smell, and taste like homemade food, later expanding into the Cafe Nara broths and lickable treats line.
The company introduced the first ready-to-serve stews made with 100% human-grade ingredients for dogs and cats, and was an early adopter of Tetra Pak cartons instead of cans for its stews. It is headquartered in Vero Beach, Florida.
